Hard Hose Travellers

The big yellow hard hose travelers that you see from the road in Oregon, Washington and California, were developed by Ernst Irrigation in conjunction with our local manufacturing partner, GK Machine. These machines are the workhorse of many farmers, with their versatility, portability and massive water delivering capability. Outfitted with what are known as “Big guns” these machines will crawl their way through a field, with a very small footprint and automatically travel the length of the hard hose they are fitted with.
Typical Crop Uses Include:
- Corn
- Squash
- Row Crops
- Beans
- Grass
- Hay
Our newest update to these machines is the introduction of the Deutz engine, which significantly reduces noise and emissions, is nearly maintenance free and can deliver up to 350 gallons per minute to your crops.
Models:
We offer two model types. Each has a 125mm hard hose that is 1400 feet long.
- One has an 8 HP Honda engine for reeling in the hose and controlling the hydraulics only, with pressure supplied by your water source.
- The other has either a 48HP or 75HP Deutz engine to boost the pressure on the water being delivered.
As with most of the things we sell, and many of the things we don’t sell, we offer service in the field for our hard hose travelers. When the sun is hot and something breaks, we know you can’t wait to get the water flowing.

History:
Many people ask us how the hard hose traveler came to be. Watch this video in which Bill Dolan explains the background from an interview in 2016.
